Five years and sixteen races

Five years ago I walked(ran down a few of the hills) the austin half marathon and felt accomplished. At the time I was having issues due to my Parkinson and running was not an option. Shortly after that race I got a new Physical Therapist. Once he found out how fast I was walking, he decided that I should be running. At first I was not sure about running. Yes, I ran before but it had been four years and with my issue leg(aka the right leg). But I figured he was the PT and if he thought I should run, I would give it a try.
The training from walking to running was not to hard. I still did a lot of walking at first then some running. I entered more races and continued to work on more running. I found that I had less issue with the issue leg when I was running then walking. Running made it so I was lifting up the leg and you can't tell that it's was ever an issue. So I work on more running and less walking. At first it was a mile here a mile there. Then I just started to running and just walk when I need to. Once I started that I found myself running longer and longer amounts of time. Until one day I notice I had ran my whole workout. Then there was just no stopping me.
I keep running races and the races kept getting longer. I decided to challenge myself last year and do 2,015 miles in 2015. I ended up with 2,415 mile. Which was great for training for the Austin Marathon, that I did this year.
I am currently training for my next marathon. I have also decide that this years birthday challenge will be to do four marathons in a year. So I am preparing myself to spend the next year in training mode. To push myself farther than I have in a very long time. Not just physical but mentally too, but I AM READY!

Hammer vs. Hand

Only one post this week and it's going to be short and sweet. Last Saturday when I was out making garden boxes. I managed to hit my hand with a hammer. I did stop working and put ice on it and took some Advil. I did all the things that you would think to do for a hammered hand. But by Tuesday I was still having eye crossing pain, so I call the nurse to see what they recommend I do. She said I need to come and be seen. Off to the doctor I went. I didn't think that I had broke anything but I was wrong. I have a Scaphoid Fracture of the Wrist.
